This Health & Safety Manager position is based at a large and busy 3PL site in Thatcham. The operation covers warehousing, transport, vehicle maintenance and in-house engineering, making this a varied HSE leadership opportunity.
The successful candidate will own the site’s health and safety agenda and work closely with operational leaders to improve standards, strengthen safety processes and encourage employees at all levels to take greater responsibility for workplace safety.
This is a hands-on role rather than a purely office-based compliance position. The Health & Safety Manager will spend significant time on the shop floor, developing relationships, challenging unsafe practices and helping teams make practical improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- 🦺 Take ownership of the site’s overall HSE agenda.
- 🦺 Work as part of the site leadership team to improve health and safety standards.
- 🦺 Coach operational managers and help them develop stronger safety leadership.
- 🦺 Promote a proactive safety culture across the workforce.
- 🦺 Identify opportunities for improvement and ensure changes are implemented effectively.
- 🦺 Lead and support health and safety investigations.
- 🦺 Build strong working relationships with employees and senior stakeholders.
- 🦺 Maintain a visible presence across the operational site.
- 🦺 Contribute to wider group initiatives and peer reviews where required.
Eligibility Criteria
- ✅ NEBOSH Certificate qualification at minimum level.
- ✅ Solid HSE experience in a fast-paced logistics, warehouse, retail or manufacturing environment.
- ✅ Confidence when presenting to and influencing senior stakeholders.
- ✅ Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- ✅ A practical and approachable working style.
- ✅ Experience leading investigations, implementing improvements and developing others.
